Znetshows "Creative Spark" Summer 2015 Featuring TTE Designs

Hello Friends~
I hope this summer has been an enjoyable one. I have been busy with weekend art show events, making new inventory for the 'brick & mortar' venues where I sell my work and of course; enjoying our family vacation to Topsail Island/Surf City, NC last week.
Summer also means a new edition of Znetshows.com
'Creative Spark' 2015 Magazine is published and I am honored to once again be a contributor.

This edition featured several themes and I'm sure it's no surprise that I chose the up-cycled, repurposed category.
'Turquoise Bay' rounds, leaves, flowers and toggle
Here are the Cultured Sea Glass Beads  I chose along with some fun, extra freebies that Znetshows generously gifted me with.

Here are the up-cycled bits I chose to incorporate in my work. Glass pearl tassels from an old necklace, a string of worn vintage glass pearls, an old Sarah Coventry brooch that was broken, worn and missing pearls and
pristine 1939 FIXACO medicine tin that I recently won from Ebay.

The Brooch was in pretty rough shape so I painted it with a couple thin coats of Vintaj Patina in Nouveau Silver and drilled in a hole at the bottom of the leaf. That helped tremendously.

I then used E6000 to glue in some glass pearls  back in and one of the translucent cultured sea glass flowers from Znetshows collection. The next step was to string the cultured sea glass rounds and shabby vintage glass pearls together and use Znetshows.com ring and toggle pieces to create a complimentary clasp.  The earrings were done by reconfiguring the tassels and adding the coordinating flower and leaf drops to the piece.

Now on to my favorite piece of this grouping, the 1939 Fixaco medicine tin. Occasionally in designing there are pieces that almost 'make themselves' and this was one of those cases.  I won the tins from Ebay and had been hoarding them for a special piece. I used the two sizes of cultured sea glass rings from Znetshows.com
along with annealed steel wire, a gun metal toggle clasp and a decorative faux key in an antique silver finish.

After drilling the box and wiring in two steel loops I connected the key  I then made a series of double looped links between the glass rings. I used Renaissance Wax on each of the links to seal them.
                                      I LOVE this piece!

Many thanks to Znetshows for the opportunity and the generous use of their materials. I hope you enjoyed my post.  A list of my Znet supplies is at the bottom if you'd like to order some too.
Please check out the other designers and the great variety of piece and uses, including some amazing home decor items and accessories.

  2. Oh, I totally loved your designs for this issue. The one with the old tin especially stole my heart. Unfortunately, it is Auburn colors; but otherwise it's to die for ;)!!
    Wonderful work on this challenge!
